Easy 10 min
Replace Engine Air Filter
Better mileage and throttle response in 10 minutes.
Tools you'll need
- New air filter (check size)
- Screwdriver (sometimes)
Step-by-step
- 1
Open the airbox
Pop the hood. The airbox is a black plastic box near the engine connected to a large hose. Release the clips or screws on the lid.
- 2
Note orientation
Look at how the old filter sits — which way the pleats face. The new one goes in the same way.
- 3
Remove old filter
Lift out the old filter. Wipe out any leaves or debris from inside the airbox with a clean cloth.
- 4
Drop in the new filter
Set the new filter in matching the original orientation. It should sit flat with no gaps.
- 5
Close and clip
Replace the lid and re-secure all clips/screws. Start the engine to confirm no whistling air leaks.
