Easy 5 min
Replace Windshield Wipers
Five-minute fix for streaky, squeaky wipers.
Tools you'll need
- New wiper blades (check size at parts store)
Step-by-step
- 1
Lift the wiper arm
Pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until it locks upright. Be gentle — the spring is strong.
- 2
Release the old blade
Most blades have a small tab or button on the underside where the arm meets the blade. Press it and slide the blade off.
- 3
Attach the new blade
Slide the new blade onto the hook of the wiper arm until you hear or feel a click.
- 4
Lower the arm gently
Carefully lower the arm back against the glass — do not let it snap down or you can crack the windshield.
- 5
Test
Spray washer fluid and run the wipers. They should glide silently with no streaks.
